Master's Program
How to Apply
|
Non-Thesis Requirements Non-thesis students who entered the program in Fall 2012 or later are required to complete a Portfolio and Portfolio Assignment in their final semester. Students who entered before Fall 2012 have an option; they may either follow the Portfolio option requirements, or they may take a Capstone Course (HIST 5395) in their final term. See the directions for completing the Portfolio requirement. Non-thesis students who entered prior to Fall 2012 have the option of completing a Capstone course in their final term, rather than taking another course and completing a portfolio. Capstone students should form a committee of three examiners from the graduate faculty during the semester before their final term. One of the three faculty examiners who constitute the Capstone Committee must agree to serve as chair, and prior to registration, the student should give the chair’s to the Graduate Advisor, so that she may create an appropriately-titled section of HIST 5395. Students are responsible for settling upon a reading list with each faculty examiner, arranging an exam date and communicating that exam date to the Graduate Secretary, and generally following through with the requirements of the Capstone written and oral exam. |
