The Department of History is pleased to welcome our newest staff member, Ms. Tracey Hoiles who will be working with Nancy Gandre as an undergraduate Academic Advisor

Tracey graduated in May 2019 from UTA (Magna Cum Laude) with a B.A. in History and a minor in Disability Studies. As a student at UTA, she served as an Intern for Disability Studies in the UTA Libraries Special Collections as well as being a tutor to student athletes. Among her other accomplishments at UTA, Tracey received the Allen Saxe Disabled Student Scholarship as well as making the CoLA Dean’s List in both fall 2018 and spring 2019.

Tracey has also spent many volunteer hours with the disability community.  She is the founding member of the Deaf/Hard-of-hearing/ASL Signers organization at UTA as well as a participant in the National Council of Independent Living Region 6 Conference and the Helping Restore Ability Gala where she represented UTA’s Disability Studies Minor.

Her professional background includes teaching and tutoring as well as being a customer service advocate for a major medical insurance company.  Tracey says she has “found significant fulfillment in mentoring” and we know she is going to be a great addition to our advising team!
