Homecoming Parade

About the Parade

Saturday, February 11, 5:20 pm (Groups participating in the parade must arrive by 4 pm), Pecan and Second Street

Get ready for it! This year's Homecoming parade will be bigger and better than ever and we want your group or organization to be a part of it! Help to showcase what you've got by kicking-off this new UT Arlington tradition and leading the community into the men's basketball game vs. Texas State in the new College Park Center. 

The Homecoming committee will have a variety of golf carts for you to decorate and use and also signage for you to decorate if your group would like to walk in the parade (there is a minimum of 10 people in a walking group). There will be scheduled times for your group to access the carts/signage for decorating, helping you to deck your ride in Maverick pride before the big parade. 

All student, faculty and staff groups are welcome. For more information, contact Student Activities at 817-272-2963. 

Please remember that the parade will be at night so you will need to consider lighting on your cart/signage. Only University golf carts may be used. Groups are encouraged to play music, throw prizes, wear costumes relating to Homecoming, display school spirit, and may be judged accordingly. NO DISTRIBUTION OR CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL DURING THE DECORATING OR ON PARADE ROUTE. 

Registration/Payment (if applicable)

All groups MUST SIGN UP AND PAY (IF APPLICABLE) BY FEBRUARY 1, 2012. Space is limited so applicants will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a $35 fee for all groups wanting to rent a golf cart. Payments can be made by cash, check or credit card in the Student Activities office located in the lower level of the University Center, suite B160. Make checks payable to UT Arlington.

Parade Timeline

Golf carts will be available for decorating in a location that is TBD but will be near the University Center. Materials for creating signage will be available in the Student Activities office from 2/9-2/10, 8 am-5 pm. All decorations must be in place and in working order by 4 pm on Saturday, 2/11. At this time, the Homecoming Committee will preview the golf carts’ appearances for safety and security. The parade will begin at 5:20 pm and will follow the designated parade route through the campus. Maps will be provided. The parade should finish approximately at 6:15 pm. Golf carts must then be thoroughly cleaned by 7:15 pm on the same day. They will be inspected by parade officials that evening. 

All groups that will use the golf carts need to read and sign the following form and then please scan (email to seth@uta.edu), fax (817-272-2962) or drop it off at the Student Activities office (E.H. Hereford University Center, Lower Level, Suite B160) by February 1st.
