The Honors College Advising Center
Mission of the Advising Center
  • To empower students to strive for academic success, community involvement, and cultural enrichment.

  • To encourage self-reliance by helping students make informed and responsible decisions, set realistic goals, and develop thinking, learning, and life management skills to meet present and future goals.

  • To serve as a contact for students to gain information concerning on- and off-campus resources that will aid them in meeting their individual goals.

Advising

Honors College students are required to meet with an Honors advisor during their first semester at UTA. Failure to make and keep this appointment with your Honors Advisor will result in loss of Honors status and privileges. In addition, the Honors College strongly recommends students be advised thereafter at least once a year, in addition to meeting with the major/department advisor. The Honors Advisors and support staff provide Honors students with personalized attention and information that will help them attain their Honors Degree. The ultimate responsibility for making decisions about educational plans and life goals rests with the individual student. The Honors College advisors are available to assist you with identifying and assessing alternatives.

Contact Information

Honors Advisors are available during their scheduled advising hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The Advisors strongly recommend students schedule an appointment to ensure availability.

Honors Student Records

A record of each student's progress is kept in the Honors College Advising Center. It is the responsibility of the student to make sure that records are up-to-date and accurate. The student should retain copies of his or her records and notify the Honors Advisors of any changes.

Honors Degree Audit

To help students track their academic progress, the Honors Advisors encourage students to make an appointment in their junior year to complete and update the Honors Degree Audit form available on-line in the Online Forms and Digital Document Library.

Student Responsibility

The ultimate responsibility for making decisions about educational plans and life goals rests with the individual student. The Honors College advisors are available to assist you with identifying and assessing alternatives.
