Volunteer for 2012 Move-In Event
First off, thanks for your interested in this year's Move-In Event. Last year, 614 volunteers helped promote the welcome nature that has become The Maverick Way to the 2,381 students moving into the residence halls. We are so grateful for the efforts and appreciative of your volunteered time.
Important things to note:
- It will be hot. It always is in August. Typically the hottest day of the year!
- We will provide water for volunteers and students/families moving in.
- We will do our best to assign groups to the same location when possible.
- You can select how many shifts you want to work.
- All participants must wear a Move-In Event shirt and wrist band.
- We encourage you to pre-register and pick up your shirts prior to Move-in Day.
- Two positions are available to sign up for:
Mule Drivers must be Full-Time University Faculty/Staff (See note below). Sorry, no grads, GTA's or students.
Movers will unload vehicles, unload the mule carts, and transport the resident's belongings to their room
T-shirts
T-shirts will be available for pick up at the Campus Information Center in the UC between Thursday, August 15 and Friday, August 16 from 8am-5pm. If you are part of a group or organization, if possible please designate one person to pick up and distribute all shirts for your group. If you are unable to pick up your shirt in advance of the event, your shirt will be available at the table outside of Brazos House on Monday, August 19. Shirts will only be available at Brazos on the day of the event. If you are unable to pick up your shirt prior to your shift, you should plan to arrive at Brazos before your volunteer shift begins to get your shirt and make your way to your assigned residence hall. All effort will be made to fulfill your shirt size preference.
Mule Drivers
If you have been assigned as a mule driver, please make sure you are eligible to drive a university vehicle. You must have current Motor Vehicle Record Check on file and have completed Defensive Driving through Environmental Health and Safety. If you have not completed these two things, please notify Greg Hladik immediately so you can be reassigned.
