Outstanding Maverick Awards Program
UT Arlington invites you to nominate an employee who exemplifies “Being A Maverick” in all that they do.
Outstanding Maverick Award Nominees must have an impact on the university through.......
Diversity – This nominee seeks to foster partnerships with communities that value differences with respect to every individual’s exceptional contribution to society. This individual may play a part in hiring diverse Faculty and Staff. He/she may help provide an environment that ensures unique work and educational experiences through diversity.
Community Outreach – The individual is committed to at least one of the following areas: public service, community service learning through UT Arlington, and/or partnerships with other North Texas businesses and organizations. In addition, as an ambassador of UT Arlington, he/she may also support and/or assist with public lectures; academic symposia; and artistic, musical, and dramatic productions.
Customer Service – As we strive to become a Tier One institution, we will take on the challenge to both become known for our “going the extra mile” customer service. This individual serves our customers – Students, Faculty, Staff, and the Community with tact and style. He/she has the ability to assist the challenging customer without losing the focus of delivering excellent customer service; and is the type of professional that has superb listening and problem-solving skills. Other employees look to this individual for advice about how to handle unique situations, promote UT Arlington in such a way as to cause the customer to want to join our Maverick community.
Sustainability - This nominee is committed to "Going Green" in one or more of the following: environmental stewardship, purchasing, addressing energy and water conservation, transportation, and recycling.
Note: If nominating a team, please discuss how the team worked together in addition to the criteria listed above:
Teamwork – (only for a team submission) – This award recognizes unique, distinct, and outstanding contributions of employees working as a team (either within a department or cross-divisionally), beyond normal operations.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR NOMINATION?
Current UT Arlington Classified and Administrative & Professional staff members who are below the Director level are eligible for the award. Regular benefits eligible employees (appointed 50% to 100%) who have been employed with UT Arlington from September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2013 are eligible for nomination. Retirees, student employees and temporary employees are not eligible. Employees may not have received the same award in the last five years.
8 individual awards of $1,000 each and 1 team award of $1,000. Individual honorees will receive $1,000 and team honorees will share the $1,000 award equally.
Any staff member, faculty member, or student can nominate an eligible staff member (or team) for an award.
To nominate a staff member for an award, submit the online nomination form by Friday, November 22, 2013. All nominations must be submitted no later than 5:00 pm on that date; late entries will not be accepted.
Recipients of the Outstanding Maverick Award will receive a cash award and be formally recognized at the Outstanding Maverick Award Dinner hosted by the President in mid-January.
