This web reference provides an overview of information to assist you in making informed decisions concerning your benefits and insurance options for the upcoming benefit year beginning September 1, 2010.

There are a number of plan changes for the 2010-2011 benefit plan year. Please take a minute to review the highlights below:

Dearborn National Life Insurance

11% premium decrease for all age levels

Basic Term Life included with employee medical coverage will increase from $10,000 to $20,000

Basic Term Life included with retiree medical coverage will increase from $3,000 to $6,000

NEW - Retiree Spouse Life has been added as an option. The option will be for $3,000 coverage for $1.83 per month. Retiree must also have Voluntary Term Life in order to elect this option. EOI will be required.

Dearborn National AD&D Insurance

Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment included with employee medical coverage will increase from $10,000 to $20,000.

UT Flex Flexible Spending Accounts

Beginning with plan year FY2011, each UT Flex account will be assessed a $12 annual processing fee. This fee will be deducted from the account after the first month's contribution.

Effective January 1, 2011 certain over-the-counter medications will no longer be UT Flex eligible unless a prescription has been provided by a physician and is on file at PayFlex.

Helpful Hints

  • Annual Enrollment runs from Thursday, July 1, 2010 through Saturday, July 31, 2010.
  • Review your Coverage Option Letter that you will receive via email.
  • Make your selections no later than Saturday, July 31, 2010.
  • Complete any EOI requirements. All EOI forms must be electronically submitted or postmarked by August 15, 2010.
  • If you would like to participate in the UT Flex plan, you must re-enroll every year during annual enrollment. It is not required to re-select the option for the debit card, as that election is now automatic for those that had the debit card last plan year.
  • If you enroll in the UT Flex Day Care plan, IRS regulations state your dependent day care deductions cannot exceed $5,000 in any given calendar year.
  • Closely review the confirmation letter that you will receive vial email after you make your selections on My UT Benefits. If there is a mistake, notify Employee Benefits Services at benefits@uta.edu.
