PURPOSE: To provide the technical and supervisory skills necessary to ensure the prompt completion of all the medical laboratory tests and procedures. Responsible for establishing and maintaining the quality of analytical data generated in the laboratory for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides technical expertise in coordinating activities to ensure completion of all medical laboratory test and procedures. Supervises and trains assigned staff. Prioritizes, assigns and reviews subordinates work and resolves complex problems. Establishes and maintains quality control of data generated. Evaluates and implements various diagnostic test procedures. Initiates purchase orders for all laboratory supplies and reagents. Assumes responsibility for quality control maintenance of equipment and cleanliness of laboratory. Updates and initiates new laboratory procedures as need arises and tests become available. Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in biology or chemistry or graduation from an approved school of medical technology and M.T. (ASCP) certification.
