PURPOSE: To provide administrative and professional nursing skills for a designated patient care area and to coordinate assigned nursing personnel. Responsible for managing and coordinating various activities necessary to the maintenance of an efficient patient care program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates and directs the daily patient care operation of the division. Analyzes workload and skill requirements to meet patient care need. Outlines and communicates nursing policy and procedures. Employs nursing personnel and keeps time sheets of nurses. Assess staff competencies and makes patient care assignments on a rotating basis. Supervises ordering of supplies needed for nursing. Prepares and maintains various records and reports. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General review of the nursing services by Chief of Staff, Student Health Center. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General instructions and over-all review of all nurses.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in nursing and current Texas license.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Three years of professional nursing experience including two years in a supervisory capacity. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work with standard health care facility equipment. Extremely accurate in following written or oral instructions. Usual health care facility conditions. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
