PURPOSE: Provide the technical skills to support the use of simulation in both the graduate and undergraduate program. Responsible for preparing and maintaining skills lab equipment, media, computers, and materials related to simulation learning and virtual hospital. Administrative/clerical support to the Simulation Coordinator. Answer student and faculty questions, assist students and faculty with simulation work and assist faculty in preparation for nursing lab experiences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Programs software to model simulators' physiological responses to instructor specifications. Supports/assists in role playing applications, props placement, and moulage set-up to create a virtual healthcare setting. Operates simulation mannequins sessions based on priority identified by the Simulation Coordinator. Assists with training faculty in the use of simulation equipment. Serves as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation. Collaborates with GTA's in the use of simulation. Conducts tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups and/or individuals. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment as needed for simulation. Provides recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials related to simulation and the Smart Hospital. Adheres to all protocols set in place by Simulation Coordinator. Collaborates in maintenance and repair of simulation equipment. Attends meetings to maintain currency with simulation technology and use. Maintains current knowledge of simulation equipment catalogs and operation manuals. Operates and maintains audio/visual equipment used in simulation with prioritization of the Simulation Coordinator. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision by Simulation Coordinator in all phases of work performed. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: May give work assignments and general supervision to Work Study students.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: One year of experience in healthcare /media environment. PC and MAC proficient. Ability to use Audio/Visual and photo production equipment. Budget and Inventory experience OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to use video cameras, digital cameras, microphones. Proficiency with PC and MAC. In the maintenance of records and supplies, equipment, and inventories of departmental equipment and maintenance of the assets of the Learning Resource Center and Smart Hospital. Varied laboratory conditions involving mechanical, electrical, and lifting hazards. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
