PURPOSE: Works under limited supervision to provide professional and supervisory skills involving practice of social case work in the Social Work Center, community, or home settings.Function as line supervisor to plan, coordinate, and supervise work of professional social workers or social work interns.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Makes work assignments; reviews work for professional quality, completeness, and adherence to established policies. Provides guidance to subordinates in resolution of work problems. Establishes procedures for, and supervises preparation of case histories, clinic charts, and other various reports and records. Reviews and approves clinical documentations, including psychosocial assessments, service plans, interventions, and psychoeducational group notes. Ensures maintenance of high professional standards. Conducts and participates in staff conferences and meetings. Develops and conducts in-service training programs for social work personnel. Supervises and educates social work interns on psycho-social and environmental factors of individual cases and ensures that interns are provided with a valuable learning opportunity. Meets with clients and families in Center, community or home settings to complete intake process, which includes screenings and assessments. Develops Service Plan for case management service implementations. Facilitates evidenced-based prevention and intervention services to clients, individually and in groups. Develops and delivers presentations to youth and adults on harmful effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Implements all duties with fidelity and ensures compliance with program and grant requirements. Assists with research and data collection as requested. Completes reports in a timely manner for approval of supervisor. Documents services in accordance with Center procedures. Complies with NASW Code of Ethics. Performs other functions as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Students, professional or paraprofessional social case workers of lower grade as directed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Master's degree from approved school of social work.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two (2) years experience in social work to include one (1) year as Social Worker III or equivalent and 1,000 hours experience in mental health or addiction services. Licensure as LMSW; LCSW preferred. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in all phases of duties performed. Work requires exercise of considerable judgment in interpretation of policies and application of procedures, techniques, and practices to work problems. Work requires personal contact with community social service agencies or patients and their families in resolution of problems of non-routine, non-recurring nature. Work is performed primarily in private office or clinical care area. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
