PURPOSE: To develop an academic advising program or unit to create or promote new initiatives an academic advising. To serve as liaison to faculty members in exchange of academic information. Responsible for understanding and interpreting the needs of specific populations of students to administrators; for interpreting, formulating and evaluating institutional rules for students; and for facilitating exchange of academic information.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, develops, implements and teaches all policies and programs affecting a specific student population (for example: Potential for Academic Success Seminar) and facilitates campus wide coordination. Advise students individually and in groups. Represents the academic unit meetings with students, parents, faculty, or administrators. Performs related duties as required. Participates in professional conferences and individual professional development. Develops and oversees projects. Assists with the recruitment and training of full-time and part-time staff.
