PURPOSE: To provide entry-level professional counseling skills in the fields of psychology and social work. Responsible for general counseling of students and other clients in routine personal, educational, vocational and related problems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Counsels and assists students with personal, academic, or financial problems. Assists in administering vocational or personality tests. Interprets test results. Offers career counseling to students. Advise students on the choice of academic pursuits. Maintains responsibility for various office programs. Performs related duties as required. Works on special projects as assigned by department chairperson.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from Director. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: May supervise clerical student help.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: None. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Standard office equipment. Must be accurate in administering and scoring tests. Accuracy in all information given students. General office conditions. May involve some travel and occasional weekend work. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
