PURPOSE: To supervise the accurate and skillful examination and evaluation of degree plans. To determine eligibility for completed courses toward degree goal requirements and to determine any additional course credits, which may be, needed to fulfill necessary requirements. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and adequacy of degree plans by reviewing the required course work for a particular degree as well as the proper number of semester hours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Determines work priority and works with other degree plan evaluators. Involved in procedural planning relating to office procedures in serving students. Solves more complex evaluation problems. Reviews and compares students completed course credits to approved degree requirements and notifies students of course work which must be completed for graduation. Consults with faculty regarding acceptable course substitution for a particular degree. Interacts and relates to representatives of other Universities regarding course equivalencies and course content requirements. Provides a variety of specialized functions, such as developing and maintaining a computerized degree check system, training section employees and serving as a primary resource to other campus offices regarding degree requirements and college policies. Performs related duties as required. Prepare statistical reports on University graduates. Determines eligibility for students admission into a major area of study and identifies students at risk of going on probation/suspension. Assists director, as needed, in counseling with these students. Trains new degree plan evaluators and assigned clerical personnel.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from Dean or other designated administrative superior. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Limited supervision of assigned staff and student workers in maintaining workflow.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Completion of two years of college.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Four years of clerical experience requiring advanced record keeping accuracy, including one year of experience at the Degree Plan Evaluator II level; with a bachelor's degree, two years of clerical experience described previously, including one year at the Degree Plan Evaluator II level. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Typewriter, calculator, personal computer and CRT. Accuracy in spelling, typing and mathematics. Office conditions. Tact, diplomacy and judgment necessary in dealing with others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
