PURPOSE: To provide knowledge, advice and counseling skills regarding the institutional student graduation process. Responsible for advising counseling and for all aspects of routine and non-routine graduation policy and procedure requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Counsels students on graduation requirements, deficiencies in grade points and various problems. Determines that degree requirements are fulfilled for graduation as well as verifying that candidates meet honors designation requirements. Process all undergraduate degree plans and applications for graduation Issues permits for early Registration t qualifying seniors. Informs Deans and departments interpretation, requirements; substitutions and waivers of particular degree plan activities. Keeps abreast of changing state and catalogue regulations concerning degree plans. Enter student status on computerized degree audit system. Compose routine correspondence, orders and inspects diplomas. Assists in arranging undergraduate commencement exercises. Prepare reports and survey questionnaires. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from Graduation Counselor II. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Limited supervision of assigned staff and student workers in maintaining work flow

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in any related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Three years of experience counseling students in academic and scholastic matters, with a broad knowledge of institutional graduation requirements. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: CRT, personal computer, typing may be required by employing department. Accurate in all phases of graduation process and degree plan evaluation. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
