PURPOSE: Participates in the planning and supervising of the student development program in a resident hall or a residential complex. Responsible for supervising and assisting in the selection of Resident Assistants and for assisting in matters pertaining to student development concerns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves in a capacity as a mediator, counselor, advisor and liaison between residence hall and judicial board. Develops positive relationships with residents of a large hall. Serves as a counselor in directing residents to appropriate sources for both academic and personal assistance. Recommends appointment of Resident Assistants and assigns their schedules and reviews their work. Interviews, selects and supervises clerical assistants working in resident hall offices. Handles routine discipline. Encourages and stimulates hall programs and activities. Provides staff direction by scheduling staff meetings and interpreting and explaining University policies and procedures. Provides opportunities for staff to share in the development and evaluation of inter-area and inter-departmental policies and procedures. Assists with in-service training programs. Prepares reports of hall activities. Performs related duties as required.
