PURPOSE: Works under limited supervision to provide professional sills in delivery of psychological services to various departments of university. Participates in wide range of psychologically based patient-care activities ranging from individual psychological counseling and behavior modification to management of units, such as remedial-therapeutic classrooms and specially designed therapeutic settings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs, implements, and, as required, supervises clinical and laboratory research in such areas as animal research, child development, physiological, and behavioral functioning, etc., using statistical techniques and interpreting research findings. Plans and administers health-related data information systems, including physiological testing programs and compilation of patient-care statistics. Designs and/or constructs test programs and instrumentation for and/or constructing test programs and instrumentation for psychological research as well as clinical service purposes. Serves as member of health team of service to which assigned. Participates in consultations with personnel of other departments within the university and affiliates and acts as liaison with outside public and private agencies. May supervise work of one or more Psychological Assistants and/or Psychological Associates of lower rank by planning, coordinating, assigning, and reviewing work. Participates in data analysis, preparation of funding proposals, progress reports, manuscripts, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Social Work Supervisor or as directed. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Psychological Assistants and/or Psychological Associates of lower rank as directed.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Master's degree in psychology or related field with specialization appropriate to area of assignment

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Five (5) years supervised applicable experience in area of psychology or field to which assigned. Licensure as LPC or APC. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in all phases of duties performed. Work is performed primarily in private, semi-private office, or clinical area. Work requires ability to make decisions within limits of established policies and practices. Work requires personal contact with faculty and staff members of other departments or organizational units, patients and their families, and/or liaison activities with schools and other agencies. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
