PURPOSE: To relieve the Associate Director of the Office of Student Financial Aid of a large volume of decisions highly complex in nature and to supervise a professional and clerical staff for a major section of the office. To act with a high degree of initiative and judgment in liaison relationships between the Office of Student Financial Aid and other institutions. To serve as a financial aid adviser/counselor for an assigned caseload of students. Responsible for many complex decisions in regard to both professional and clerical staff and for supplying reports or other factual information in regard to the programmic areas within their areas of responsibility. Responsible for decision-making processes requiring initiative and judgment in responding to individual student's needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises the productivity of a financial aid program(s). Participates in student orientation and attends seminars and meetings with professional organizations concerned with student financial aid activities Prepares and reviews all paperwork for an assigned caseload of students. Oversee the preparation of various state, federal and University reports to assure compliance with regulations and maintain eligibility for participation in these programs in the future. Identifies complex and controversial issues and directs them to the attention of the Associate Director. Prepares information and reports as required by senior administrative staff. Determines whether funds are utilized optimally for all students requesting aid. Prepares budgets for available funds. Performs frequent liaison activity and promotes a positive public relations image. Contacts various lenders as well as prospective lenders under Guaranteed Student Loan Program. Performs related duties as required.
