PURPOSE: To provide curatorial, managerial, and computer skills necessary for the operation of a comprehensive herpetological research collection. Responsible for all aspects of research collections management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Procures scientific materials from field and other sources; prepares specimens; catalogs specimens by tagging, indexing and cross-indexing; maintains and updates computer database; sets up teaching displays; packages exchange and loan materials; provides lecture demonstrations for various biology classes; inventories and purchases materials as needed. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from faculty member (curator) in charge of specimen collection. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students working in collection.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Master's degree in Biology

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Minimum of one year of experience in the biological field. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of computers and databases; valid Texas driving license. Ability to perform all tasks with extreme accuracy. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
