PURPOSE: To provide skilled assistance in connection with the design, construction, maintenance and repair of scientific, electronic, or mechanical equipment. Responsible for assisting in organized projects and for consistent maintenance of machinery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the maintenance and repair of laboratory instruments, personal computers and communications systems. Ensures that laboratory instruments are working and accurate. Assists in fabricating prototypes. Performs related duties as required. Performs special assignments as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Close supervision from senior technician SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: None.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or equivalent supplemented by to years of formal education in related field

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: One year of experience in the industrial engineering or mechanical or electronic fabrication. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Scientific instruments, computers and necessary hand tools. Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Proper safety precautions are required to insure safe conditions. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
