PURPOSE: Responsible for the overall operation and supervision of a lab/shop environment. Serves as the organizer, manager and observer of the laboratory and shop capital equipment, assets and materials for the department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for developing and carrying out safety training of students, faculty and staff. Supervises and monitors student usage of lab or shop equipment. Maintains the budget and inventory records assuring the smooth operations of the various laboratories and shops. Provides specification and purchasing information for new equipment. Provides support for miscellaneous projects relating to the department. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from immediate supervisors. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: May supervise subordinate staff members and student workers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Master's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two years of experience providing services and the maintenance of equipment or apparatus of the type related to the position. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of or previous experience with the various types of equipment and materials used in the employing laboratory. Proficient in all phases of the duties performed. Excellent. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
