PURPOSE: To provide skilled technical assistance in a medical/research laboratory. Responsible for assisting laboratory technologists in effectively carrying out medical and scientific tests.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs standard laboratory experiments. Prepares laboratory specimens. Assembles and operates laboratory and field equipment. Weighs and assists in procedures with experimental animals. Collects and records data and performs mathematical tasks involved in summarizing results of experiments may include statistical, numerical or multi-variant analysis, operation of calculator or adding machine and related clerical functions. Prepares chemical compounds, reagents and culture media. Prepares and specializes bacteriological culture media which may require somewhat refined techniques for use in teaching and research. Develops, prints and enlarges film data. Prepares anesthetic agents and induces anesthesia to animals. Performs related duties as required.
