PURPOSE: To perform assignments, requiring at least a basic working knowledge of engineering or scientific methods, in areas such as research, design, or experimental testing. Responsible for performing procedures and research that require technical knowledge, under the direction of a supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Collects and compiles data, makes and records observations and measurements. Sets up and operates apparatus or equipment as instructed by supervisor. Prepares various technical reports. Designs equipment. Writes simple computer programs Performs related duties as assigned. Assists in maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment. Inventories supplies.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Specific instructions on assignment objectives and possible solutions from supervisor. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: May supervise the work of student workers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in the field of assignment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: None. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Basic engineering or scientific equipment ordinarily used in college laboratory work. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve working with hazardous equipment or materials. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
