PURPOSE: To perform responsible research work involving planning, directing, supervising and participating in field of social science or humanities. Responsible for gathering and interpreting data and preparing materials for publication in the field of specialization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Sometimes required to partially of entirely plan projects. . May assist a superior in planning research projects. Participates in research in any field, which comes within the scope of interest of the job; plans, organizes the study, analyzes and interprets the results of the research; directs and participates in the preparation of the results of the research in the form of publication. Act as a consultant for certain groups of individuals by assisting them with specific problems, preparation of materials, analyzing problems and recommending possible solutions. Provides updates on current information and allied research projects being performed elsewhere. Assists with the general administrative duties, such as assuming responsibility for the proper conduct of administrative procedures such as purchasing, accounting, record keeping, the safekeeping of finished publications and their distribution and sale. Performs related duties as required. May assist in the selection of personnel for an entire area, interviewing applicants, making recommendations, employing part-time employees. Prepares answers to inquiries from citizens, public officials and private organizations covering diverse subjects within the field of specialization.
