PURPOSE: To perform limited and semi-skilled work in the operation, construction and maintenance of laboratory or other specialized equipment. Responsible for performing routine manual operations in a variety of technical fields, including electrical, mechanical, electronics, theatre, radio/television and general mechanics fields.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the operation and/or repairs and adaptation of manual, mechanical and electrical equipment particular to the type of work assigned. Assists with technical work in various departments and projects. Tasks or duties are usually of a routine rather than specific nature. Performs related duties as required. Occasionally assists in the completion of various reports and records.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Six months of experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Some knowledge of the use of basic tools and equipment required by the department or project assigned. Proficiency and accuracy in all duties performed. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve exposure to scientific hazards in some departments. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
