PURPOSE: To provide overall supervision in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration and related equipment used for air conditioning. Responsible for planning, inspecting and assigning job schedules to crews in related areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates work priority and scheduling of duties. Suggests specific work methods and procedures for employees. Provides follow up supervision on assignments for employees. Initiates requisitions for supplies and equipment. Maintains records for hourly employees. Devises schedules and supervise inspections of the air conditioning equipment. Maintains complete machinery histories on equipment. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General instructions from superintendent of Utilities. Specific work methods and procedures usually devised by incumbent. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General supervision to employee of the Air Conditioning Section.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or 3 years experience including one year of experience with refrigeration.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Seven years of skilled/journeyman-level experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of centrifugal and reciprocating refrigeration equipment, including one year in a supervisory experience. Valid Texas drivers license required. EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Skill in the use of hand tools and equipment. Common to the air conditioning and heating trade. Proficiency in all phases of work performed and thoroughness in the ability to interpret blueprints. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve exposure to equipment, tools and chemicals used in air conditioning equipment as well as one or more disagreeable elements. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and to others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
