PURPOSE: To provide basic skills in the maintenance and repair of automotive and grounds maintenance equipment. Responsible for performing maintenance and minor repair of automobiles, trucks, tractors grounds equipment, and emergency generators.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs light general repairs on vehicles, trucks, tractors, and grounds maintenance equipment. Prepares vehicles for state inspection, and performs "make ready" procedures for motor pool vans. Performs scheduled vehicle preventive maintenance work to include the maintenance of radiators, batteries, drive belts, steering boxes, filters, brakes, transmissions, rear ends, tires, lights, mirrors, performs oil changes and grease jobs. Also responsible for updating vehicle maintenance records, maintained in Automotive Shop. Other duties include; obtaining gas pumps readings, light repairs to gas pumps, tire repairs/replacements, run errands for parts, and assist with cleaning the shop area.
