PURPOSE: To provide skilled work in the routine operation of heavy trucks, and buses. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and for the delivery and moving of heavy equipment and materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Drives University Shuttle Bus on campus and some out-of-town trips for other University Departments and special events. Responsible for making minor repairs, cleaning and washing of vehicles. Checks condition of buses and reports needed adjustments and repairs. Maintains mileage reports and submits travel request for out of town trips. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Work subject to review by Captain of Police. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: May review work and performance of new drivers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: One year of experience driving one-ton capacity vehicles and/or buses. Must have valid "B" Drivers License for use in driving buses and other personnel carriers. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to operate buses or trucks of the type owned by the University. Ability to use automotive tools in performing minor repairs. Knowledge of proper operating methods, and maintenance; traffic laws and ordinances; safety procedures in vehicle operation. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but involve exposure to outside weather conditions and driving hazards. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and to others. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
