PURPOSE: To provide technical skills in the operation and maintenance of electronic systems. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of electronic systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs routine engineering on the television system in day-to-day operations and installs or assists in the installation of sound systems and television equipment. Maintains the sound recording, amplifying, radio, and television and intercommunications systems of the campus. Performs other duties as assigned. May assist in other areas of campus communications. Keeps records related to the work and prepares and submits reports as requested.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General instructions from senior technical supervisor. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: May supervise assigned technicians and assistants.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or GED supplemented by approved courses in electronics. Coursework in electronics at the college or vocational school level.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: One year of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of modern electronic communications equipment. Two or more years of the above experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of test equipment such as tube testers, signal generators, ohmmeters and special electronics tools. All equipment necessary in the operation and repair of electronic systems. Extreme caution must be exercised in the repair of equipment because of the high voltage involved and the delicate nature of some equipment. Good. Some exposure to outside weather may be required. Travel may be necessary. Formal and informal training is required. Physical strength sufficient to lift television sets and repair equipment. Eyesight sufficiently strong to permit extended close work and normal color perception. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
