PURPOSE: To provide semi-skilled work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair, tasks in one or more craft areas at an apprentice level. Responsible for a wide variety of installation and maintenance work in several buildings and mechanical trade areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Installs switches and electric fixtures. Makes minor repairs and adjustments to electrical equipment and appliances. Repairs valves, gas stoves and hot water heaters. Assists plumbers by unstopping sinks, commodes, hand basins, sewer lines and repairs drinking fountains. Performs semi-skilled tasks in construction, repair and maintenance of wooden structures and articles. Makes inspections of refrigeration equipment or heating systems. Does rough painting and rough concrete laying and patch plastering. Removes and replaces defective motors and valves. Performs related duties as required.
