PURPOSE: To provide journeyman level skills to perform painting. Responsible for preparing surface for painting, applying paints to machinery, equipment, furniture and interiors and/or buildings by spray gun or brush.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Scrape, sandpaper and size surfaces preparatory to painting. Mix, blend, match and apply paints, varnishes, shellacs, enamels and other finishes. Erect or rig scaffolds. Cover surfaces and furniture to protect from paint. Remove spattered paint after job is completed. Clean and care for brushes, spray guns and other equipment. Perform related duties as assigned. Report need for carpentry repairs.
