PURPOSE: To provide advanced journeyman level skills in the installation, maintenance, remodeling, repair and servicing of plumbing systems. Responsible for the prompt performance of assigned plumbing and related duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, repair and maintain water, gas and sewer lines and systems. Install plumbing pipes, traps, washbowls, fittings, drains, special laboratory sinks, drain tables and experimental tables. Repair, replace and maintain valves, faucets, water heaters, traps, sinks, washbowls, sewers, vents, toilet fixtures and sump pumps. Cut and thread pipe and wipe lead joints. Connect and maintain hot water units, gas heaters, furnaces and check for safety. Unstop clogged lines. Maintain radiators, radiator traps, and thermostatic trap lines. Perform acetylene welding and soldering of copper pipe and fittings for construction and maintenance of pipelines and systems. Perform related duties as assigned. Perform duties of Plumber Supervisor during his/her absence. May supervise semi-skilled or unskilled workers.
