PURPOSE: To assist in the installation, maintenance, and services of a variety of complex communication and electronic equipment. Responsible for the installation, repair and technical administration of communication and electronic systems, writing and apparatus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ascertains equipment problems and malfunctions and determines methods to correct equipment failures. Modifies equipment to insure full and proper usage of communication systems. Plans installations, moves and changes in the telephone equipment. Participates in the telephone. Performs duties of Air Conditioning Supervisor during his/ her absence.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Specific written or oral instructions from Air Conditioning Supervisor. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General supervision of workers during the absence of the Air Conditioning Supervisor.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduate, 3 years experience or vocational school graduation with special courses in electricity, plumbing or air conditioning.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Five years of skilled/journeyman-level experience in repair and maintenance of refrigeration equipment and systems, with one year in a supervisory capacity. Valid Texas drivers license required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to use all hand and power tools common with the air conditioning and heating trade. Familiarity with different types of HVAC equipment. Must be accurate in all phases of work performed. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve exposure to inclement weather conditions, equipment, tools and chemicals used in the air conditioning equipment. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and to others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
