PURPOSE: To supervise the installation, operation and maintenance of utility equipment. Responsible for planning and inspecting and for planning and assigning Utility Station Operators and Installation Mechanics.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, assigns and supervises work of Utility Station Operators in the operation of equipment which regulates the flow of heat, steam and air conditioning into buildings from a central distribution point. Directs preventive maintenance activities. Supervises and participates in necessary repairs to equipment and instruments. Performs related duties as required. Supervises inventory of materials and equipment and prepares reports.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General direction from a superior who reviews work through observation of services rendered. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General supervision over Utility Station Foreman and operators.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or 3 years experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Seven years experience in the operation and maintenance of steam generating, power generating, refrigeration and/or data acquisition equipment to include a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. Valid Texas drivers license required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to operate and make repairs on equipment assigned. Accuracy in all phases of work performed. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve exposure to mechanical and/or electrical hazards. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
