PURPOSE: Perform skilled work in all phases of operation and maintenance of utility equipment in the Thermal Energy Plant, Housing/University Center and Physical Plant. Insure consistent and continuous supply of generated utilities; perform proper and timely maintenance and operation of utility equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam boilers, centrifugal refrigeration machines, cooling towers, compressors, pumps and related equipment. Read and record pressures, temperatures, fluid levels and other operating conditions. Maintain engineering logs and equipment status. Record results of water equipment status. Conduct water analysis. Perform required preventive maintenance work. Clean, repair, oil and/or paint equipment, piping or building structure. Perform related duties as required. Disassemble, repair and reassemble operating devices. Notify energy plant supervision in the event of an accident or serious malfunction.
