PURPOSE: To perform responsible supervisory work for the direction of housekeeping and custodial services. Responsible for assisting in the direct and indirect supervision of housekeeping and custodial employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Inspects building or area for which responsible. Determines and advises superiors of the need for repairs or other work. Inspects the work of building services personnel engaged in custodial and related activities. Assists in establishing work schedules and in forming work crews. Assists in training of employees. Requisitions, receives, maintains and distributes custodial supplies. Keeps immediate supervisor aware of work conditions and employee morale. Performs related duties as required. Assists in the interviewing of applicants for vacant positions. Supervises the physical preparation of auditorium and other student and faculty and staff functions.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General instructions from supervisor. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General with detailed instructions for special assignments.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or GED.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Four years of supervisory experience in custodial maintenance work or related management activities. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of cleaning and janitorial materials, equipment and methods. Proficiency in all phases of the duties performed. Usual office building conditions, but occasionally involves late night work. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
