PURPOSE: Provide responsible supervisory work assisting the Stores Supervisor in the direction of stores unit operations and to assume overall supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor. Responsible for supervising stores unit personnel and assisting in the maintenance of maximum and minimum stock levels.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist customers in making purchasing decisions, transacts sales, resolves customer problems, gives technical advice, performs minor troubleshooting and service, maintains inventory records, performs shipping and receiving. Manage rental software activities, provide backup of all rental software. Act as educational product liaison with IBM customers; provide product advice and technical assistance as needed. Perform related duties as required. Assists in ordering merchandise, performs physical inventory, acts as manager during the manager's absence.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision by Computer Store manager. Receives detailed instructions about ordering of merchandise for resale. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Directs the work of Computer Store Sales Assistants. Assists in training.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduate.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Four years of experience in the procurement storage, issuance and accounting of property, including two years intensive experience with personal computers, retail sales and one year in a supervisory capacity. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: McIntosh personal computers. MS-DOS hardware and software and understanding of computers in general. Providing accurate information to customers is of paramount importance. Work is done indoors. Retail sales sometimes requires standing for extended periods, and occasionally moving and lifting of heavy objects. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
