PURPOSE: To provide supervision, management and technical support to the housekeeping unit of the university. Responsible for organizing, planning and directing all in-house training programs on custodial management and for direct supervision of building services employees. Also insuring the proper use of chemicals and equipment to maintain all campus buildings on a daily basis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans and coordinates all custodial programs with custodial employees. Interviews and makes final recommendations for selection of new custodial employees, and schedules all incoming work requests according to priority. Purchases all cleaning supplies and equipment and determine replacement according to usage and budget. Manages the University's in-house support of the recycling, entomology, and the uniform contract for physical plant custodial employees. Provides in-door and out-door pool cleaning, chemical treatment and liner up keep. Insures all burned out lamps are replaced where light fixtures are ten feet or less from the floor. Responsible for window cleaning, both in house and out sourced. Handles custodial employee relations including grievances and discipline. Schedules employees to work overtime for university athletic events as well as for other scheduled events held on campus. The Executive Housekeeper has the responsibility for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that unit operations are effective and efficient, unit assets are safeguarded, unit financial information is reliable, and the unit complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Prepares employee job descriptions, office filing, submits overtime requests, time cards. Responsible for preparing and receiving annual leave schedules and worker compensation submittals for their department. Reviews and makes recommendations on worker compensation submittals. Meet with committee on graduation to coordinate physical plant needs for commencement. Also meet with different student, athletic and other organizations to coordinate physical plant needs for campus functions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree preferred.
