PURPOSE: To provide service and information to students, employees and visitors; to enforce the rules and regulations of The University of Texas System pertaining to the operation of vehicles on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington. Responsible for enforcing regulations pertaining to parking of vehicles on the University of Texas at Arlington property and to safeguard buildings and property under the control and jurisdiction of the University of Texas at Arlington.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides a wide range of services to students, employees and visitors; checks buildings for necessary repairs, security risks, and safety hazards; screen individuals entering fixed post buildings; provide personal safety escorts; respond to fire alarms; respond to elevator rescues; conduct monthly building security surveys; respond to and evaluate medical emergencies; conduct injured person investigations; issue parking citations; must possess sufficient strength and stamina to be able to assist in emergencies; must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; must be able to hear and respond to audible alarms and radio voice transmissions; must be able to operate a passenger shuttle bus along established routes, as well as on extended over-the-road trips; and perform any related duties.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Work is performed under the general supervision of a Lieutenant or Sergeant of the University Police or the Transportation Supervisor. Requires the ability to make frequent decisions often of a serious nature requiring accuracy and compliance with department policy and procedure. SUPERVISION: N/A REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: None required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Working conditions involve exposure to variable weather conditions and working in an environment that involves a degree of hazard. May be required to work any one of three shifts. Should have the physical and mental capabilities to properly carry out his or her responsibilities and duties as a Police Guard of the University of Texas System Police. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's license and be able to obtain a Texas CDL within the first 6 months of employment. Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation. Specific job requirements and the physical location security sensitive thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 of the Texas Education Code.
