PURPOSE: To provide responsible and highly skilled management in directing all facets of a retail store operation. Responsible for the daily operation of a retail area including personnel management, marketing, budgetary controls, inventory controls, customer services and any other requirements which may impact store operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Accomplish all personnel management actions necessary to ensure the general store staff is hired, trained, scheduled and will provide quality customer services. Determines and purchases appropriate types/categories of marketable items and ensures inventory levels support merchandising efforts. Maintain an effective positive customer service environment. Resolves customer problems, consider all suggestions and implement changes as necessary. Ensures budget and inventory levels are maintained. Orders merchandise and oversees physical inventory.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision by Assistant Director, Business Services. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Hires and directs the work of general stores sales assistants.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or equivalent. Two years of college with courses in business management or marketing.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Four years of retail experience to include purchasing, inventory controls, marketing, budgetary controls, and included two years intensive experience with personal computers and personnel supervision. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of MS- DOS and MS Windows software and of computers in general Exact accuracy in maintaining inventory, budgetary and personnel staff records. Usual conditions associated with retail operation. Periods of standing, moving, and lifting of heavy objects required. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
