PURPOSE: To provide the clerical and technical skills to maintain proper inventory levels and stock records in a stores unit. Responsible for purchasing or requisitioning of parts, equipment, materials, and/or supplies; for computing unit costs; and for supervising the routine phases of warehouse work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to performing the duties of a Stores Clerk III, perform a combination of the following responsibilities for a substantial portion of the time: (1) Supervises a group of Stores Clerk I's and II's engaged in the operation of a large storeroom or in a particular warehousing function (e.g.. receiving, storage, issue, etc.). This includes making work assignments, explaining procedures, resolving work problems, and inspecting work in process and at completion. (2) Ensures the maintenance of established inventory levels of stock items, recommending the timely reordering of such items when indicated necessary. (3) Supervises and participates in the maintenance of stock control records showing stock on hand, stock on order, stock issued, and unit costs. (4) Assists or supervises the ordering of special items. Performs related duties as required.
