PURPOSE: Provides the supervisory skills required in the operation of a stores unit and sets up an efficient system for scorekeeping. Responsible for the maintenance of maximum and minimum stocks and for the operation of an accounting system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs some but not necessarily all of the following duties: Performs purchasing and buying duties of certain merchandise to be distributed to departments on campus. Contacts vendor for bids and awards contracts for certain merchandise. Supervises the maintenance of records, the pricing of supplies disbursed on job orders and material transfers. Prepares vouchers for payment of materials received. Assists with preparation and maintenance of a file of standard ordering specifications. Establishes the procedure for receiving, inspecting and delivery of material to using departments. Issues requisitions for items obtainable under State Contract after determining which vendors are under such contracts. Reviews computer printouts of inventory to assure accuracy of information, checking items on hand against those issued and determining need to reorder. Performs related duties as required. Supervises inventory of supplies stores in warehouse; prepare reports of stockroom condition and activity.
