PURPOSE: To perform the supervisory, technical, and clerical skills to direct the operation of warehouse facilities. Responsible for the receipt, storage, and shipping of materials in a medium to large warehouse and for supervision of warehouse personnel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the day-to-day operations of the warehouse facilities; establishes operational procedures for warehouse activities; develops and implements employee training and safety programs. Determines work schedules and assigns work to warehouse supervisor and personnel. Schedules and provides additional personnel and support during peak and critical seasons. Ensures the safekeeping of equipment and materials that are received and stored. Trains employees on care, preservation, and distribution of items received, stored, and shipped. Inspects delivery equipment and warehouse equipment for proper functioning and maintenance; prepares work orders and requisitions for replacement and repairing of equipment. Must be trained on handling hazardous materials and ensure all safety measures concerning these types of materials are adhered to. Operate electric/gasoline powered forklifts and a university vehicle as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Delivers materials to campus departments by truck.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from Assistant Director, Asset Management and Receiving. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Supervision of Warehouse Supervisor.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Four years of warehouse experience, including one year of forklift experience and one year of supervisory experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Standard warehouse equipment and knowledge of computer terminal. Accuracy in maintaining warehouse records, processing issues and receipts. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve lifting, standing and carrying and exposure to hazards common in a warehouse environment. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and to others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
