PURPOSE: To provide the skills to teach, supervise personnel, perform research, and prepare teaching and publicity materials in the field of audio-visual communications. Responsible for organizing, conducting, and participating in conferences, workshops, demonstrations, and classes, and for initiating projects, promoting utilization of materials, and conducting research in the audio-visual field.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, organizes, conducts, and participates in meetings concerning the application and utilization of audio-visual methods, materials and devices. Advises and assists in the selection, production, and supplying of audio-visual materials. Participates as contributor and consultant to professional organizations and/or publications. Originates public relations programs concerning audio-visual communications. Produces or directs the production of audio-visual materials. Performs related duties as required. Represents the department at meetings. Helps plan and maintain audio-visual equipment. Interviews and trains personnel.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Administrative review of overall work results with only occasional specific direction. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Specific and general instructions to Audio-Visual Educational Specialist I's and other personnel assisting with the work.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree with courses in audio-visual education. Completion of additional graduate-level courses in audio-visual education.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Three years of experience as a teacher or supervisor of audio-visual education. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use of film projectors, opaque projectors and other special audio-visual equipment. Usual office conditions. Proficient in all phases of work performed. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
