PURPOSE: To provide skilled technical assistance and supervision in the operation, maintenance, and repair of audio-visual equipment used in the production of related media materials. Responsible for maintaining and operating audio-visual equipment used in the production and distribution of audio-visual, digital and video programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises and participates in the operation and repair of motion picture and slide projectors, video tape recorders and players, video cameras, computers used in video production, associated processing equipment; operates above listed equipment and other audio-visual equipment in the production of teleconferences, cable TV channel of the university, and other similar production activities. Receives requests for services to be rendered and ensures that such requests are completed. Performs related duties as requested.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Directly responsible to the Supervisor of Audio/Visual Services; general supervision while work is in progress. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Directs assistants and students performing work in assigned area.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation supplemented by vocational school training in electronics.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Three years of experience in the operation and maintenance of electronic audio-visual and related equipment. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to operate and repair all general types of audio-visual equipment. Proficiency in all phases of work performed; accuracy required in some specific tasks. Considered acceptable. Exposure to electrical equipment and electrical hazards. Ability to climb on and work from scaffolding. Must lift, carry, and set-up awkward and heavy equipment. Extended hours and weekend work may be required. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
