PURPOSE: To provide for skilled operation of various types of bindery equipment and related machines. Responsible for finishing operations of printed materials, including operations on various types of bindery equipment and hand-finishing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates bindery and finishing equipment such as folders, cutters, collators, paper drills, stitchers, bookmakers, wrapping machines, perforators, punching and binding machines and joggers. Maintains a high level of quality and quantity of production. Performs other related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from assistant print shop supervisor. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: None.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Six months of experience in the operation and maintenance of bindery equipment. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to use paper cutter, folder, wire stitcher with trimmer and other related bindery equipment. Proficiency in all phases of work. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but involves prolonged standing, lifting, carrying and exposure to hazards of mechanical equipment, fumes, odors, dust and noise. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
