PURPOSE: Installs, maintains, and operates multi-media audio and visual equipment in classrooms and other areas where student instruction takes place. Provides training and support for faculty, students, and staff using classroom equipment. Delivers supplemental equipment for classes and/or special events and assures that the equipment is set up properly. Performs operation and maintenance of audio-visual equipment used to support a wide variety of instructional methods and techniques.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors classroom equipment using interface/monitoring software. Orders and receives parts and materials from vendors. Plans, oversees, and participates in equipment/system installations. Assists with annual inventory inspection. Works with Registrar's Office to schedule classrooms for maintenance. Informs registrar of equipment changes in classrooms. Cleans and maintains instructional equipment such as projectors, mixers, amplifiers, VCRs, DVD players, doc cams, and other associated equipment. Maintenance includes troubleshooting, cleaning filters, changing projection bulbs, using interface software to monitor equipment connections, soldering, connecting/replacing cables, adjusting audio/video output quality, software upgrades, etc. Maintains status records for a/v equipment. Drives university vehicle to and from work site as required. Communicates with vendors when instructional technology malfunctions cannot be resolved locally. Responds to calls for assistance. Participates in researching new classroom multi-media equipment. Other duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High School graduation or GED.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two years technical school plus two years experience in a related field or four years experience in a related field. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be proficient with the operation of all equipment utilized by the department necessary to perform assigned duties. Accuracy in all phases of work performed. Working conditions are considered acceptable. Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Some lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 70 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to climb and work from ladders at various heights and tight spaces. Needs to have working knowledge of A/V concepts and ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects. Must have a valid Texas drivers license. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
