PURPOSE: Performs responsible professional work and handles advanced procedures associated with the outreach and promotion of the University. Conducts outreach to prospective program participants, recruits students into the program, and counsels students in the areas of education, college admission, and financial aid to help economically disadvantaged individuals pursue a post-secondary education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as senior level Community Education Specialist. Helps train staff, supervises satellite site and staff where appropriate. Acts as liaison with other offices. Has daily contact with prospective students and the counseling community; cultivates relationships with school personnel and community agencies. Gives presentations to community organizations and schools. Handles college fairs, financial aid fairs, career fairs, etc. Makes regular presentations to schools, community organizations, and social services agencies. Actively recruits students into the program and verifies their eligibility under federal regulations. Provides group and individual counseling on educational options, academic advising, scholarship information, assistance completing admissions and financial aid forms, career counseling, and ACT/SAT/TASP testing information. Administers and scores appropriate inventory tests. Tracks participants ' status and services received. Completes appropriate federal reporting requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor s degree or equivalent working experience in education, counseling, student services, or related field. Master's degree or equivalent working experience in education, counseling, student services, or related field.
