PURPOSE: Designs and performs costume production for Theater Arts events. Provides professional expertise involving costume production.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Construction of wardrobe requirements for productions. Designs costumes for theatre productions when necessary. Consults with directors and other designers. Performs highly skilled and technical work involving the construction, operation and maintenance of specialized equipment and costumes. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from assigned supervisor. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: None.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High School education or equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two years of experience in costume design, construction and maintenance OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Sewing machines and other standard equipment and tools related to costume production, PC. Accuracy in costume and wardrobe design and construction, as well as in maintaining budgets, records, inventory and reports. Usual University work schedule plus evening attendance at dress rehearsals and performances of plays which run for ten nights per play, seven to eight times per year. Must be able to climb stairs, bend, stoop and reach to retrieve and move costumes, equipment and supplies; must be able to move between offices and buildings; must be able to move costume racks full of clothing from location to location. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
