PURPOSE: To provide journalistic skills in preparing informational materials and news releases. Responsible for preparation of articles, news releases, and other informational materials concerning the technical, scientific, or other activities and programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops ideas, collects information for and prepares news and/or feature articles for release to newspapers, wire service, and radio stations in publicizing University activities and events of public or local interest. Arranges for necessary photographic work. Prepares copy for and edits publications of an informational character. Maintains files and selects materials to be sent in response to informational request. Performs related duties as required. During course of special departmental events, obtains material and accommodations for working press, and acts as guide for reporters and photographers.
